It takes a lot of courage to dance in front of a crowd, but sophomore Caiden Becker does it almost everyday. Students videoing like crazy, pop music blasting in Becker’s Headphones, and elbow spins, everyone experiencing something that rarely happens at school.

He can be seen breakdancing in the courtyard during passing periods. Becker started wall jumping last year, now he’s confident enough to break dance.

“I started off with wall jumping and other things, but there was something about that to really get me to start dancing,” Becker said. “I’d like it to really show people that they can do it too.”

Becker usually does his dances in the courtyard and in front of the east cafeteria, which tends to stir up a crowd of students.

“The students around when I dance usually get pretty excited,” Becker said. “Everyone just has a great time and it’s really awesome.”

Some students such as Karla Tirado, see Becker’s dances quite often during passing periods and at lunch.

“I didn’t really understand it at first, like how he could just dance in front of everyone,” Tirado said. “After a while I was just overall impressed on how he has the confidence to do these performances in front of so many people.”

Other students such as Alexa Lubanga really envy Becker for what he does.

“I really love how confident Caiden is, and I wish other students would learn something from what he does,” Lubanga said. “Students can learn how to express themselves through what he does.”

Becker plans on continuing to dance between classes for the school.

“I plan on dancing for as long as i can,” Becker said. “It will just depend on how my arms and legs feel after a while.”

The types of music when dancing really influences the way someone dances, music like hip hop or rap.

“Dancing with a song pretty much just makes the dancing feel right in the moment,” Becker said. “When I dance to the music it makes me feel almost as if I’m in a movie.”
