After winning their first round of playoffs, varsity volleyball are officially bi-district champs. They won 3-1 against Amarillo Tascosa and are ready to play their second round of playoffs.

“We have been building each other up, working together, and we are just overall ready to keep going.” freshman Allie Bennett said. “We couldn’t be more excited.”

The volleyball team hasn’t gone to playoffs for the past seven years, so they have been putting in a lot of hard work to prepare for this.

“For the past week it’s been six long hard days of practice,” sophomore Kinzley Cantu said. “No days off.”

Some of the girls such as sophomore, Ava Breckenridge, were not nervous to go into the game after preparing so much, for she was just ready to win.

“I was super excited and just ready for all this hard work to pay off finally,” Breckenridge said. “None of us were nervous, just ready.”

Their next round of playoffs is this Friday against El Paso, so their recovery after the game was needed.

“I got on the bus, and I was still just really hyped about the game,” Breckenridge said. “But I almost fell asleep instantly.”

Now the girls just have to prepare for the next game with hopes to continue to win. The mindset before is what matters.

“We are going to win,” Bennett said. “I truly believe that we’re gonna win and do really, really good.”
