Seniors Yasmine Delagarza and Maddie McMillon earned selections to play in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) All-Star volleyball game on June 16 at Wylie High School.

Varsity volleyball coach Caroline Cleveland nominated four seniors, McMillon, Delagarza, Laila Brown, and Paisley Lopez, to be drafted for the selection process. During the selection process, coaches from the red team and the blue team take turns drafting players to fill their rosters.

“I think the nomination is an honor, and I’m so excited,” McMillon said. “This sport means the world to me, and I’m so grateful to be able to play one more time in my high school career.”

McMillon had two ACL tears back-to-back. She is known to be a very resilient player and role model not just for her teammates but her coach as well.

“Maddie was voted MVP for our team for a reason,” Cleveland said. “Maddie is resilient, coming off of those two ACL tears back-to-back. Maddie is a role model, not just for the girls, but also for me.”

Delagarza has played on varsity for two years, finishing out her senior year with an academic all-star award.

“I’ve always said she was a silent assassin,” Cleveland said. “She has a really high volleyball IQ. She sees and reads the court very well. She also is a very intense player when we really need it.”
