Communities in schools (CIS) helpers collaborated with school officials to create “Eagle Essentials” to provide the products that the students need for success at school. They have supplies, numerous personal hygiene products and some clothing items.

CIS liaison Chelsea White said students become more confident in school when they smell and look good.

“There was a need on campus for feminine hygiene products,” White said. “We then wanted to add other hygiene products for all students like deodorant, body wash, etc. All of those items are expensive, but we wanted our students to feel confident.”

Principal Emme Siburt wants to save space for students to find the things that they need that may be inconvenient or difficult for them to access outside of school.

“The original idea started when the senior class were freshmen,” White said. “They raised money to open a food pantry on campus. This idea turned into the store we have today. The money they raised was used to purchase the items for the store. CIS can help direct students to resources.”

Freshman Anajah Woah’s favorite part about the school store is just pure convenience and the organization of it.

“I would like to tell people to come down and get something that you need because it’s here for you, and you deserve to have it,” Woah said. “I’ve gotten like a toothpaste one time because I needed it for the trip I was going on and I forgot mine at home.”
