The Eagle Marching band began rehearsing their marching show performance over the summer in preparation for their UIL competition in October

The title of the band’s marching show is “Phoenix Rising” with the show being based around the rebirth of a phoenix.

“It starts out there’s a phoenix like the introduction of the creature,” associate director of bands Alanna Curley said. “The middle is the ballad so it’s supposed to be sappy and emotional, and then the third movement is high energy and it’s fast and it’s kind of like the battle scene and the victory of the phoenix.”

The band has been diligently working since the end of July

“I’m really excited, ” Curley said.  “It’s a lot of fun. We’ve been working really really hard. The drills are cool. I love all of the movement and choreography that we’re adding. I like our props and the music is a lot of fun.”

Many of the students in the band are very excited about the show this year.

“I think it’s definitely better than last year’s,” junior euphonium player Trevor Martin said. “I think we’re gonna do better moving forward.”

With the amount of time spent together, band members have formed very close bonds.

“[My favorite part is] probably the stands, and just being loud and having fun with my section and other people in the band,” Martin said.

After a long week of rehearsals, Fridays are always the highlight for the musicians.

“I love the bus rides, but me personally I love just marching on the field, that feeling is just amazing,” senior brass captain Adi Pilit said.

The band will perform the first two movements of their show during the halftime performance at the Frenship game this Friday.

“I love Friday’s top to finish,”  Curley said. “They are a lot of fun. We get to do so much with the band.”
