On December 10 band students participated in all-region band for a chance to advance to area competitions.
“The all-region band is an individual band competition and you just learn music and you go and compete for a rank,” Sydney Spell, clarinet player said. “Every section gets three different etudes in August and we get to learn them all the way up until November.”
All-region band students were Sydney Spell, Ethan Atkins, Isaac Trinidad, Colt Moreland, Lianna Pfimmer, Anson Cobarruvias, Adi Pilit, Mallory Taylor and Mattie Spaulding. The freshman band also took part in the all-region band competition.
Isaac Trinidad, who plays bassoon, tuba, and bass guitar participated in an all-region band. Trinidad placed second out of all the participants and will be advancing.
“I feel like I’m on the right path to be well prepared, I’m consistently practicing to make sure I’m constantly improving to audition for Area,” Trinidad said. “There’s stuff I have to work on but by working on it I know I’ll be prepared.”
Ethan Atkins also took part in the all-region band and got third overall. Atkins played bassoon at all-region and will be advancing to area.
“I feel prepared but I think I need to work on my etudes a little more,” Atkins said.
All-region band students who advanced will be partaking in area, in a few weeks and are currently correcting their all-region etudes.
