Senior cross country runner Andruw Villa beat his own school record of 15:06 with a 14:52 minute 5k run at the Southlake Carroll invitational meet on August 26.
“It gives me more opportunities for colleges so that was the best thing about it,” Villa said. “I want to get as fast as possible to get colleges, more offers from colleges.”
Coach Jonathan Graschel is extremely satisfied with Andruw and the entire team’s work and accomplishments.
“Andruw does a great job at running, he’s a very talented runner,” Graschel said. “It’s just amazing to watch him run. He’s got great form, and great endurance. I’m so extremely proud of him and very happy for him this year.”
The team has set their sights on placing during state. Their next meet is on September 23 at the Hoka One-McNeil Meet in Round Rock.
“I want to hopefully win state or at least make the top three,” Andruw said. “Working hard, making sure I recover, don’t over train, and just trust the process.”
