Fellowship of Christian Athletes is an all-year program that allows athletes come together to worship, create community, and learn more about God through the Bible. The group meets twice a month, once after school on the first Monday of the month and once before school on the third Thursday of the month.
“FCA is a group where we meet and worship the Lord together and it’s just a good time,” senior Hannah Fewkes said. “I’m one of the leaders out of seven of us, and we organize the meeting and who checks and keeps track who’s speaking”
Senior Maddie McMillion is one of the leaders who takes care of all the behind the scenes and that includes scheduling, who speaks for the meeting, and where the meeting will take place.
“I do all the scheduling, figure out when we’re going to meet and I send it out to everyone, get speakers to speak at the meeting, put up fliers around the school and post on social media,” McMillon said.
FCA is an engaging, empowering, and impactful place to be at to seek God’s directions, demonstrate leadership and come together with friends.
“I think it’s the community that makes the program amazing,” McMillon said. “I like to see all the different kinds of people that come and visit, and we have every sport even people that aren’t in sports.”
Although FCA was originally meant for athletes, that’s not necessarily the case anymore. The program welcomes all students from freshmen to seniors to attend the meetings.
“Absolutely anybody can come whether you’re an athlete or not,” senior Dylan Slack said. “Whether you’re a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior it doesn’t matter. Everyone is welcome.”
