Lady Eagles softball team starts off the season, going 7-1-0 in scrimmages, and starting the season off with wins against Brewer High School and Lake Belton, making them 2-0 on the season.
The Eagles kicked off their season with scrimmages, playing Clyde, San Angelo Central, Aledo and Stephenville for a double header and Wylie Dallas, and Frenship, Bushland and Pampa for a triple header.
“Preseason is going great,” junior right fielder Germanie Williams said. “I can definitely see that there is growth, looking back on last season and now.”
Eagles beat Brewer High School winning with the score of 11-0, senior Diana Silva pitched a no hitter with a career high of 14 strikeouts.
“I was so excited,” Silva said.”I finally reached that goal my senior year.Ive been working so hard during practice, taking lessons, and perfecting my curveball, and it really showed that night.
The Eagles started their big tournament, February 15-17 in New Braunfels, at the Comal ISD fields.
“This year’s tournament we are in it to win it,” senior first baseman Marissa Cardenas said. ”This year we will make sure our strikeout status is lower and to make contact with the ball and put it into play.”
Eagles kicked off their tournament, with a win against Madison High School 10-1 and another win against Joshua High School 10-1, Friday Feb 16, they played against and lost to both Eagle Pass High School 2-3 and Smithson Valley High School 2-7, and Saturday they lost against Leander 1-2 and Davenport 4-5.
“Before games, we usually do pregame,” senior second baseman Amyah Starks said. “We work on our defense and then we go into the nest to hit stations.”
Lady Eagles took on Lake Belton Tuesday Feb. 20 and won with the score of 5-4 and will start the AISD Icebreaker Tournament Thursday Feb. 22-24.
