The new head girls’ soccer coach Cory Oglesby has been a high school soccer coach for 17 years, and originally, she was a Chelsea fan but she’s really excited to see women’s soccer grow and make a difference. soccer runs in the Oglesby family
Coach Oglesby grew up playing sports because she has two older brothers that enjoyed playing sports, so soccer became one of her passions.
“Soccer is what helped me pay for my college. I played in college soccer. I went and got my masters through playing soccer and it’s always been a really strong passion of mine and it’s always been my life and part of it,” Coach Oglesby said.
Some of coach Oglesby challenges are getting to know the girls and learning the dynamics of the previous team
“Well it’s always hard whenever you’re coming in just to learn the dynamics of the previous team you’re trying to learn about all the other girls that were there what there experience is the goods and the bads from the previous years and so those are kind of some challenges of just getting to know the girls,” Oglesby said.
Coach Oglesby wants to see the girls soccer team succeed and to see them achieve their goals.
“Athletic administration has been incredible, the administration here at Abilene high school has been great, so I’ve had a lot of hope and I’ve just been really welcomed around here,” Oglesby said.
