Students and faculty returned to school for the spring semester and welcome a new assistant
principal, Joshua Lemond, to the campus.
“My leadership style is kind of hard to describe,” Lemond said. “I am a former military and I’m
a pretty easy going guy, however, I like people to follow the rules and do what is expected of
them.”
Lemond brings many years of experience in education and leadership. He has previously
worked a teacher, a coache, an athletic director, and an assistant principals at other schools.
“Some of the goals I have is to be that premiere destination and make us one of the best
schools in this area,” Lemond said. “I want us to continue to keep growing and be the best we
can be. ”
While working at Craig Middle School last fall, Lemond saw the position open and decided to
shoot for the high school atmosphere.
“Most of my career has been at the high school level,” Lemond said. “I’ve been an elementary
principal, I’ve been in middle schools, but I really like the high school setting and seeing what the
kids can do and being involved.”
Going into this new position, Lemond was familiar with students and families which peaked
principal Amelia Sibert’s attention when hiring him.
“I think the biggest challenge will be learning the day-to-day stuff that goes on around here,”
Lemond said. “Coming in mid-year is always a hard task, but I’m excited and looking forward to
it. I’m excited to be here.”
Lemond is optimistic for the future school years and looks forward to getting involved and
interacting with the student body.
“It is hard on students when you have a new assistant principal come in,” Sibert said.
“Especially when one had been with us as long as Mr. Sneed had, but I think Mr. Lemond has
done a great job adjusting.”
Despite the challenges that face when joining mid-year, Lemond is excited for his new
opportunity here.
“His strengths are that he remains very calm,” Sibert said. “If you come to him with a problem he’ll be able to work through it with you. This is just one of the many strengths that he brings to
the table.”
Previous AP, Zachary Sneed left to become the assistant director of the AISD transportation.
“We all miss Mr. Sneed,” Sibert said. “Mr. Sneed was a great AP, and I know he’s doing
amazing things with transportation which will help us too. We’re very excited for him and the
opportunity that he has.
