After breaking numerous school records in their district meet, the swim team continued their successful season at the region meet last Thursday Feb 8. in Lubbock.

The season full of broken records has been earned according to sophomore record breaking swimmer Levi Huddleston

“It’s a lot of practicing on just diving, and you have to know the other person and how they swim so you can get the best time,” Huddleston said.

The team’s hard work is well represented by the multiple school records that have been broken this year according to junior swimmer Landon Schroeder.

“I have broken the 200 record, I have broken the 50 freestyle record, and I have broken the 500 freestyle record,” Schroeder said.

The team practices multiple times a week giving lots of opportunities to bond.

“I love my friends so much they’re just such great people and it’s a lot easier having them around because we’re all in it together,” Schroeder said.

Alongside the teams combined accomplishments, each member has their own goals.

“My favorite part about swimming is the challenge. Being able to wake up early and push yourself past what you thought you could do,” Huddleston said.

At the end of a successful season, almost every swimmer has improved their times.

“This year I’ve improved on my 50-yard freestyle,” Huddleston said. “I’ve dropped about four seconds and my techniques a lot better,”

Sharing the successful season is what winning so enjoyable according to Schroeder.

“It’s such a great experience that it’s not even just you winning, it’s everybody that is winning,” Shroeder said.
