On December 1, FFA hosted their annual district banquet to award the LDE and CDE district winners.
FFA teacher Sucinda Easley was happy to award her students for their successful season.
“We placed third in the career development event back in the spring,” Easley said. “We also brought home four leadership development awards, placed second in the single teacher departments, and placed fourth in agriculture issues.”
Over 24 members of FFA placed in the competitions, including junior president Austin Hendrickson.
“I took part in the leadership event and agriculture issues,” Hendrickson said. “In that competition, you must present a current agricultural issue, its effects and a potential solution. My team worked on the “pros and cons” section, while I spoke on the topic.”
The competition was judged on voice, clarity, and quality of the presentation.
“I think I did a good job presenting,” Hendrickson said. “I wasn’t nervous at this point. I’ve done public speaking for FFA before, and I think that will only help me in the future. I learned to be confident in an event like this and have fun with it.”
Several competitions took place during the summer and fall which lead into the winter round.
“This is the ending of a full year’s work,” Easley said. “The whole team worked hard on this, and I’m really happy to be represented by these great students.”
FFA’s next event will take place in the spring.
“I give Ms. Easley a lot of credit,” Hendrickson said. “She stretched herself thin.”
