The varsity basketball team ended district with a 10-1 record giving them the advantage of heading into the playoffs.
“Getting this far is something that makes me a proud teammate knowing that I’m on a team with these guys who are supportive and over all just good people,” Junior Jalen McGee said. “This team has taught me a lot of things and has improved my skills to the max and I could not be more thankful for what the future holds.”
After losing the game against Euless Trinity 62-51, the eagles went on to a losing streak of one.
“Losing is never something anyone wants but it is a learning experience and helps you get back up and work even harder,” Senior Joe Joe Escobedo said. “I am glad that we had the ability to make it this far and it does not end here.”
The eagles first playoff game will be Tuesday, Feb 25. Held in Mineral Wells about two hours away.
“I am pumped to be going into this playoff game and I pray this is not the last one,” Junior Nathan Watts said. “Getting to play basketball with these guys is like a dream.”
Justin Reese, the varsity boys’ basketball coach, is preparing his team for the upcoming game.
“These guys are more than capable of moving forward into the playoffs,” Reese said. “We spent countless hours working hard and preparing for this moment.”
