Softball season officially started after many long months of hard practice. Their first official  game will take place against Temple High School on Feb. 13.

“We have won all of our scrimmages in preseason,” sophomore Jaide Musquiz said. “I have a good feeling that this year’s season is going to go really well for this team.”

With really long off seasons getting to know your weaknesses as a team is really important for sophomore Makayla Gutierrez.

“We have been working really hard as a team to work together more,” Gutierrez said. “We’re all super close but when it comes to getting on the field it’s a little harder to communicate together.”

Even with the season starting the team continues to practice hard and whenever they can.

“We still practice everyday, it’s basically anytime we can get on the field we try our best to do so,” Burnett said. “We’re really hoping that all of this hard work pays off for this season.”

Their first game is coming up really soon on Feb. 13 against Temple High School.

“I expect this game to go really well for everyone,” Musquiz said. “I am hoping to get a lot of playing time for this game.”

According to Gutierrez, their strengths as a team have been really motivating and driving the team to keep improving.

“As a team our strengths really have been overpowering the team as a whole,” Gutierrez said. “Our defense has really been dominating and has improved so much, so I am very excited for this season to come.”
